Surviving A Bad Date

March 21, 2018 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Whether you’re online dating or meeting people via more
traditional methods, the chances are you’ll experience a bad date or two. There
is nothing wrong with this and it is actually a really worthwhile experience in
many ways – after all, how can you appreciate good dates if you don’t have bad
ones.

A Funny Story

A few years ago I was a member of a free dating site and met some via
this that I thought I would enjoy meeting. We spent a few weeks chatting via
messages and the phone, so I thought it would be a great idea to meet up.
Now, I am not saying this is the best way to escape a bad date,
but I have to admit that I did leave the date half way through! Sadly though, I
didn’t actually tell the person I was leaving and instead made my excuses to go
to the toilet and then left – sending them a message that I was
doing so!

They were understandably annoyed, and I felt terrible.

You Are Allowed To Leave

The next bad date I had, I was brave enough to tell them
that I wasn’t feeling it and made my excuses to leave. This didn’t go down that
well, but I did feel better that I had been truthful with them and was able to
leave without too much of a fuss! I simply then logged back into the free dating website and moved onto
the next person to chat to!
The thing to remember is that you are never obligated to stay
on a date that you are unhappy with. Although I would always make sure you are
safe when you leave, please remember that if you are not happy on the date then
you are well within your rights to leave if you would like to!

Really Bad Dates
However, as lucky as I was to be able to leave these
dates without too much hassle, I know that this was not the same for everyone.
That is why I was really pleased to read about the Ask Angela campaign.

I really like the idea that bars and pubs are being
proactive when it comes to keep their visitors safe. Online dating and meeting
people who are considered strangers is becoming more popular so it really is
essential that we make sure we do what we can to protect people.

The good news is that I have seen the Ask Angela campaign
shared on social media, so it is something that is spreading and becoming more
well known. I think before I go on my next date with someone I have met online,
I would message the before I attend and see if this is a scheme that they take
part in – just because you can never be too sure!

What I Wear To A First Date

February 14, 2018 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

A first date with someone is always nerve-wracking, especially if you’re online dating and meeting someone for the first time. One of the biggest tips I can give is to wear something you’re comfortable in. It can be tempting to dress very glamorously, however, if you spend the evening worrying about your eyelashes looking perfect of tugging at an uncomfortable dress
you won’t be able to enjoy yourself.

Top Tips For Keeping Your Home Date-Ready

December 13, 2017 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Top Tips For Keeping Your Home Date-Ready – With the advancement and popularity of online dating, and apps such as Tinder, you may find that your dating diary fills up pretty quickly; and it can feel quite hectic trying to keep on top of your home life, your work schedule, and your dating life. One of the things that always seems to fall behind when life gets on top of you is your housework. It’s very easy to leave it until the next day or save it all for the weekend.

How Can You Show Someone You Like Them?

December 9, 2017 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

I am big fan of honesty when it comes to dating, it can make for some awkward conversations but why would you want to be left wondering whether someone is interested, when you could just ask? Of course, I don’t mean if you meet someone on a Jersey singles website you should start tying to map out life plans on date one, but if you get to know someone for a while why not check what they would want from you?

Dating – Is It Different for Guys?

November 22, 2017 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Clothing retailer River Island
recently invited me to take a look at a dating survey they carried out, with a
number of men who are currently dating. They questioned 3000 men on their
dating habits and thoughts, and it made for an interesting read!
For example, the survey came out
with results that 79% of men think that they’re being tested on a first date –
and let’s be honest; they’re probably not wrong! I don’t know whether it’s
something that we do on purpose, but surely part of the first date process is
to decide whether there will be a second date… the only way to do this is
with some subtle testing! I’m sure that if you asked males whether they test
people on a first date, I bet the answer is YES!
Perhaps unsurprisingly the
retailer also looked into the clothing side of dating – for example they
discovered that 49% of men like it if their date wears a dress on their first
date. That said, 44% of them said that good conversation was far more important
than what she is wearing.
First Dating Styling
Are you someone that worries
about what
to wear on a first date
? I know I always want to make sure I look my best –
but also wear something that I feel comfortable and confident in, because I
think this really shines through when you are out socialising. That said, 15%
of men said they didn’t think they would notice if a woman they were dating
changed outfits half way through, so if you’re dating one of these men you really
don’t need to worry at all!
What I would say is that dating,
especially a first date can be really stressful. If wearing something fabulous
helps to take away some of this stress then do that – but on the flip side, if
deciding what to wear is just adding to the stress then put on something that
you’re happy and comfortable in and you’ll be fine!
Surviving First Dates
Try not to worry too much about what you think the guy is
wondering on a first date, it’s really important to just worry about having a
good time. At the end of the day, they’re going to either like you or not – so worrying
about whether they’ll notice what you’re wearing or if you have had your hair
cut is a waste of time. Instead, get yourself dressed up in a way that you like
and get yourself out there. You have nothing to lose but a few hours of your
life – and you may end up having an amazing time!
I tend to keep first dates simple
– drinks in a local bar for example, so I know that a dress and leggings is
going to do me fine, no matter the time of day or the person I am meeting. If
you need/want to change this for your own first date, go for it!
What do you like to wear on a
first date?

November 15, 2017 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

When we talk about relationships, we generally mean a loving, sexual relationships between two people – although of course, there are many different ways that relationships can be defined. When I talk about making time for relationships, I mean for all of those important people in our lives. We all tend to be so busy, that it can be be easy to lose touch with people but it really is worth making the effort to restore these connections.

A Real Engagement

November 1, 2017 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Despite being an eternal spinster, I do love a good
engagement story! I love people that have put effort into the proposal and/or
announcement.
  In fact, I often find
myself losing hours on YouTube watching proposal videos – we’ve all done that
right? If I get into watching some of the clever first dance videos that people
create I lose even more time! So when I was invited to check out
77 Diamonds I knew I would
have a lot of fun window shopping! And when I read their celebrity trend data,
I was not disappointed!

Getting Engaged

As ever, your engagement and subsequent wedding is a very
personal affair. For me, it isn’t ever about how much money you have to spend
but instead ensuring that it is exactly what you want and that you’re
completely in love. There are loads of ways that you can create the ultimate
engagement and wedding day to your exact budget, so never put off getting
engaged until the time is right for finances – This is something special and
should be cherished!

Celebrity Engagement Trends

Of course you’ll always see celebrity engagements and
massive sparkling rings to celebrate their coupling, but we don’t always notice
that there are different trends that can have an effect on what we buy. We know
that celebrities and social media have a lasting effect on what we spend our
money
on and when it comes to engagement and wedding rings, there is no exception.

A few years ago you’d have seen platinum rings everywhere, as this is what celebrities were wearing. Since then we have seen white gold soar in popularity throughout 2016 and yellow gold has been the must have this year because of Meghan Markle’s 3-stone ring. One trend that seems to out-last them all is white diamonds which have been just as popular this year as they have previously.

Getting Engaged

You might not notice it but even when and how we get engaged
can be affected by celebrity trends. We see celebrities host big extravagant
engagements
, whisking their significant others off to luxurious locations
and we’re tempted to do the same.

We tend to see lots of people get engaged during the summer
and of course over the Christmas holidays – perhaps your own engagement is soon
approaching and you just don’t know it yet?

Spreading the News

Over recent years we have seen celebrities take charge and
announce their own engagement rather than through official press releases. We
have seen some really funny and clever announcements created purely for
platforms such as Instagram and this has made the rest of the world want to
follow suit.

Of course, as much as celebrity engagements are fascinating
– when you consider that they spend an average of over £450k on a ring, it
might be worth looking at your own needs and coming up with something that
makes you happy – after all, we don’t all have that Hollywood
budget
!

So, tell me – are you engaged? How did you do it? Planning
one? Got one planned? Tell me everything!
