How To Keep Your House Tidy During Lockdown
There is no denying that 2020 has been a strange year, and now that we’re about to enter another 4-week lockdown period, it seems that this isn’t likely to change any time soon
Although lots of people have been shielding since March and, for most of us, activities have been reduced, the news of a 2nd restriction across England has been tough to take.
During the last lockdown, most of us benefited from good weather, not bad pay and, of course, the opportunity to bake banana bread! This time, we’ve got darker nights, rainy days and the worry of what Christmas will bring.
For me, rather than worrying about all of that, I wanted to use this time to get organised. I’m generally a messy person – I love organising events & making sure everything day to day is planned, but when it comes to household chores, those aren’t my favourite things at all. This means, my house has lots of clutter and lots of drawers filled with things that need sorting!
The best advice I can give you this lockdown period is just to look after yourself. Social media will be full of people baking, crafting, reading etc. and it can seem like there is a pressure to keep up – but there really shouldn’t be. We’re in unprecedented times and therefore, you just have to do what is best for you and the people in your household.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask For Help
I’m a big fan of work smart, don’t work hard. So if there is something that is going to make my life easier – I want it! Banking apps, emails on the go, getting my boyfriend to do the washing-up – all of it! I recently came across Laundryheap and let me tell you, if I still lived in Birmingham I would be taking advantage. Founded in 2014 they basically are a collect and then deliver back launderette – what a genius idea!
As someone with far too many clothes, you wouldn’t believe that I often have times where I have nothing to wear! I am sure many of you can sympathise. Then you have that one outfit that you live in, you’re reliable outfit – and it’s dirty! Well, as Laundryheap do a 24-hour turnaround service, you can get away with sending it to them on Friday and still wearing it out on Saturday night, what a good idea. Not only that, but they do ironing too, so your clothes come back to you literally ready to wear. They’re currently servicing London, Manchester, Coventry and Birmingham,
but if they ever extend to Hampshire I’m pretty sure I’ll be trying them out!
How To Keep Your House Tidy During Lockdown
The truth is, that you really don’t have to if you don’t want to. Just do whatever it is that makes you happy and feel safe. I would say that if you’re able to keep on top of basic chores then this generally helps your mind to feel better anyway. That and your wardrobe of freshly cleaned and ironed clothes will hopefully help you feel okay during lockdown – and then we can all get on with hoping 2021 will be better. Getting storage for the things you own is a good idea too – for example if you’re a keen reader then make sure you invest in some decent book shelves to keep your growing book collection tidy.
If you have any quick, easy to implement, tips for tidying please share them below.

Choosing Jewellery For A Special Occasion
Although it is not often I go out-out these days, when I do – I am a big fan of accessories. I don’t tend to wear high heel shoes so I find that wearing bold jewellery helps me feel dressed up. I like to be comfortable, even when attending special occasions and I find jewellery much easier to wear than shoes that are going to leave my feet aching after a couple of hours.
Choosing Jewellery
The great thing about accessorising with jewellery is that there is something for everyone. Whatever your style, taste and budget you’ll be able to find something that suits exactly what you’re looking for. Necklaces, earrings, finger rings and even brooches can help to dress up an outfit, making you feel dressed for any special occasion. Places like Carus Jewellery have loads of choices, so you’ll be able to find the perfect bit of sparkle for any occasion.
Something Different
If you’re looking for something a little different, or perhaps a stunning piece of jewellery to give to someone as a gift then vintage or antique jewellery can be a perfect choice.

Planning a Good Christmas This Year? It Might Be A Close Shave
Is it too early to mention Christmas? I know it barely seems like 2020 has begun with lockdown restrictions and life seems far from normal. However, like it or not we’re 100 days until Father Christmas visits us so if you’re someone that likes to be organised, now might be the time to start.
Buying Gifts
I don’t know about you, but I think that men are by far the hardest to buy for. I know that is a bit stereotypical and there are lots of exceptions to that rule, but for me the males in my life are almost impossible to buy for. My dad generally tells me what he wants these days which does make life easier – at least he gets something he likes.
Unless like his birthday he sends me the link to the wrong thing and gets something that he doesn’t like at all. My boyfriend and I try to do days out or similar rather than gifts, we live together and generally buy the things we like through the year (not extravagant but you know what I mean) so gift giving can be tough.
Buying Something Great – and useful!
That said, as 2020 has been such a strange time I have been looking at something I might buy him as a treat. I was introduced to The Invisible Edge shaving kits and I think one of these might do the job.
| The Invisible Edge Starter Kit |
Since living together, I think he’s secretly enjoyed the different products in the bathroom, so maybe something nice of his own would be a good idea. That said, I know nothing about shaving a face so I might need to do some research or secret questioning to find out exactly what would suit him best.
What I like about their website is that they have a number of different options, so I can be sure there will be something to suit. And I benefit from a freshly shaved boyfriend, it’s a win-win!
If you’re looking for a gift for a man in your life and you feel that a shaving kit might well be what you need then click here to visit their website and have a browse through what they have to offer.
If you’re looking for a different gift then there are loads of gifts for men to choose from here >>> at Manly Man Co! They have a whole range of gifts, and because you’re shopping online you don’t have to worry about restrictions or social distancing, just browse online and send it to the person you’re shopping for, perfect!
If you have any ideas for gifts to buy loved ones, I would love to hear that! I really love buying practical but unusual presents so anything that ticks those boxes would be perfect.

How To Be Social Whilst Social Distancing
Although I live a much quieter life these days, I used to love being sociable. It used to be me that would book a table somewhere and encourage a group of my friends out to have cocktails and
dance the night away. I’m now getting older and like a quieter life but I can see that nights out like these can be tricky with the new (and ever-changing) social distancing measures that are in place.
For example, if you want to join an Aberdeen dating site, how do you meet up with other singletons and remain socially distant? I’m pleased to say that online dating has been successful for me and I am now happily ‘settled’ – but on our first date we definitely held hands and we couldn’t do that currently, so I can see that things might be tough.
Keep Things Online
One option is to keep things online until we go back to normal a bit. I can imagine that this would take the pressure off a bit, because if you can’t meet up then you can simply spend the time getting to know one another. Video calling has been super popular during the lockdown and there is no reason why you can’t take advantage of this and set up some virtual dates. There are loads of ideas for games you can play online, ice-breaker questions etc. so you don’t have to let not being able to see each other in person be a barrier for getting to know one another.
Take Things Outside
If you decide that you do like someone, then the chances are you are going to want to meet in the flesh and see if this carries through to real life, it just makes sense! If you do want to do this, I
would suggest an outdoor date. We’re getting a little cold for this in the evenings, but perhaps wrap up and brave a winter walk? On a warm day you could go for a picnic or see what local events are happening outside. With lots of space and an activity to do, you should find that keeping your distance isn’t too much of a chore.
Finding Love
Whether you’re joining www.dateaberdeensingles.co.uk or another dating site in order to meet someone, you can do it and remain safe. Maybe after a date or two you could head to a pub with an outdoor area and enjoy some dinner? Or is there an outdoor cinema you could enjoy?
There is no doubting that within the current climate we have to be a bit more inventive when it comes to meeting new people but that doesn’t make it impossible. Even during these times, we all
deserve a little happiness and some company, so if you are ready for dating then get yourself on a dating site and see what happens. I found the best way was to go with no expectations, see what happens and anything that did happen was a lucky bonus. It worked out for me, so I have no doubt it could work for you too!
Have you tried online dating recently? How was it?
