Hints and Tips for Online Dating

November 27, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Admittedly it has been a while since I did online dating – but seeing as I have been with my boyfriend now for over 2 years and we met on Plenty of Fish, you could say I’m a fan! I know that there are lots of horror stories around meeting a new partner online, but actually, it can be a really good experience too. I guess a bit like online reviews, we tend to write about the bad stuff & not shout about the good stuff. Actually, I think online dating is great and especially in the current climate can be a really good way to meet new people.

Finding The Right Site To Join

There are lots of different dating sites out there & many of them cater to different needs. For example, if you’re gay you may want to join a website that is tailored towards gay people. Same as I used to use lots of plus size dating app – however I did meet my partner via POF so I guess anything goes! There are also websites geared more towards causal hookups, which if that is what you’re looking for are perfect to join. You may also want to look up more local site like Lancashire singles and work towards finding a new partner that lives nearby. Looking to date in Lancashire or want someone interested in model aeroplanes? You’ll be able to find someone easily via the tight type of website

Creating An Online Profile

Once you have taken the plunge and decided on a website to join, you’ll need to think about what to write in your profile. For me, it was really important to let people know I was(am) unapologetically fat and it was important that they accepted (liked) this.

I wrote about being plus size in my profile and also made sure I had plenty of full-length profile photos – actually I had a “Fat Bitch” t-shirt as my profile picture when my now boyfriend messaged me! You can talk about what you’re looking for and even what you’re not looking for, although I always tried to keep my profile positive.Taking

The Next Step

Now you’re onto messaging people and getting to know them. Don’t be afraid to message people first! With the way that things are, you may not be able to rush out and meet new people face to face, but once you feel comfortable you can swap contact details and video chat or speak on the phone. These are great ways to test whether you feel you click with someone or not – and of course, if you do you can work out a way to meet in real life – how exciting!

Setting Boundaries

Online dating can be daunting so don’t be afraid to set some boundaries. For example, I would never have gone to someone’s house or had them to my house for a first date. There’s nothing wrong if you do want to do this, ut it was something I wouldn’t willing to do and I always made that clear. I generally met in a public place (Wetherspoons was a good choice as I could get there early, find a table I liked and order a drink with the app – stress-free) and told someone where I was going. The main thing about online dating is that it is there to be enjoyed. The nights are drawing in, the weather is getting colder – so have some fun & get out there to meet new people online, you never know what it might lead to!

Meeting New People in 2021

November 25, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

With current restrictions being lifted on the 2nd of December, lots of us are looking forward to getting a bit of normality back into our lives. However, as much as this could be possible we have to keep in mind that there is likely to be local tiers – and that these will change. This means that if meeting new people in 2021 is on the agenda, then we’re likely to need to get a bit inventive to make this happen.

Online Dating

In the past, meeting new people was easy. You could simply sign up to any number of dating websites and get to talk to people almost instantly. Although this is still the case, most of us are much more wary of meeting up with numerous strangers, even when restrictions are lifted and we are allowed to. So, what you should do is invest time in online dating, so that you have a better chance of meeting the right people online – and therefore, need to meet up with fewer people in real life. Joining a website that is local to you is a great way to meet people that live nearby. This avoids any worries about different local tiers & also the need for using public transport. Just look for something such as Northamptonshire dating, or somewhere local to you and get signed up.

Getting To Know People Online

You should invest some time into getting to know people online. Always keep your wits about you and stay safe, however, there’s no harm in swapping contact details and getting to know someone away from the site. Whatsapp and video calls are a great way of getting to know someone well – and this will give you an idea of how much you click and whether you want to invest in meeting up with them. Have a look for online games and things you can do on platforms such as Zoom for ways to get to know one another too.

Socially Distanced Dates

If you decide that you do want to take the plunge and meet someone, there is no harm in considering a socially distanced date first. Walks in the park, outdoor sports and even a drink in a pub garden can all work. The good news is that the country has definitely adapted to our need to be outside, so you should find that there are lots of options – including pods where you can keep warm and places with plenty of heating.

Looking After Yourself

Dating can be tough and during a local pandemic certainly no easier. Just remember that all of it can go at your own pace – there are no right or wrongs. Everything is getting through 2020 and likely some of 2021 in the best way for them. There is certainly nothing wrong with this and something I would recommend for you.

If you have any tips for meeting new people in 2021, let me know below – I’d love to hear them

How To Be Social Whilst Social Distancing

September 10, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Although I live a much quieter life these days, I used to love being sociable. It used to be me that would book a table somewhere and encourage a group of my friends out to have cocktails and
dance the night away. I’m now getting older and like a quieter life but I can see that nights out like these can be tricky with the new (and ever-changing) social distancing measures that are in place.

For example, if you want to join an Aberdeen dating site, how do you meet up with other singletons and remain socially distant? I’m pleased to say that online dating has been successful for me and I am now happily ‘settled’ – but on our first date we definitely held hands and we couldn’t do that currently, so I can see that things might be tough.

Keep Things Online

One option is to keep things online until we go back to normal a bit. I can imagine that this would take the pressure off a bit, because if you can’t meet up then you can simply spend the time getting to know one another. Video calling has been super popular during the lockdown and there is no reason why you can’t take advantage of this and set up some virtual dates. There are loads of ideas for games you can play online, ice-breaker questions etc. so you don’t have to let not being able to see each other in person be a barrier for getting to know one another.

Take Things Outside

If you decide that you do like someone, then the chances are you are going to want to meet in the flesh and see if this carries through to real life, it just makes sense! If you do want to do this, I
would suggest an outdoor date. We’re getting a little cold for this in the evenings, but perhaps wrap up and brave a winter walk? On a warm day you could go for a picnic or see what local events are happening outside. With lots of space and an activity to do, you should find that keeping your distance isn’t too much of a chore.

Finding Love

Whether you’re joining www.dateaberdeensingles.co.uk or another dating site in order to meet someone, you can do it and remain safe. Maybe after a date or two you could head to a pub with an outdoor area and enjoy some dinner? Or is there an outdoor cinema you could enjoy?

There is no doubting that within the current climate we have to be a bit more inventive when it comes to meeting new people but that doesn’t make it impossible. Even during these times, we all
deserve a little happiness and some company, so if you are ready for dating then get yourself on a dating site and see what happens. I found the best way was to go with no expectations, see what happens and anything that did happen was a lucky bonus. It worked out for me, so I have no doubt it could work for you too!

Have you tried online dating recently? How was it?

Tips For Dating During Lockdown

June 12, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

Tips For Dating  – Although we’re starting to see an ease in restrictions, it is still against guidelines to go out and meet new people. Gone are the days (hopefully just for now!) where people can meet up in the pub for a few drinks or pop to the cinema to watch a film. This means that dating can be tough, even in a relationship we’re running out of things to do and countryside we can walk
in! However, tough doesn’t need to mean no dating at all, it just means that you need to be savvier! Here are some tips for dating during lockdown.

Love During Lockdown

June 11, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

We’re hopefully starting to come out of lockdown now and I’m looking forward to life starting to get back to normal – or the new normal that we can all look forward to at least. I think it is important to recognise that since the UK went into lockdown in March, life has been very different for most of us.
Meeting New People
One of the biggest changes that lockdown bought about was the ability to meet new people. Whether you’re just someone sociable, you’re dating or you’re signed up to something like a Hampshire sex site, the ability to do any of these things in real life was taken away from us all.
If you are someone that is dabbling in any type of online dating or even yorkshiresexsite.co.uk, then you’ll  probably have gotten a little inventive over the past few weeks, as all of your
talking to people has moved online.
Thankfully, there are lots of apps and ways to chat and get to know people online. So, if we can adapt to this new way of communicating we can still get to know new people!
Being Lonely
Of course, you have the other side of this. People are in relationships with partners that they have been unable to see. I have lived with my partner for over a year now, but before that we did long distance between Hampshire and Birmingham. I was just thinking the other day how different things would have been if we were still long distancing and how I would have been unable to see him for weeks. I imagine that there are lots of people in similar positions to this currently and it is something that I really empathise with!
Being With Someone Too Much
Then you have a completely different perspective. People who are used to living busy lives and having space from the other people in their homes are suddenly forced to spend lots of
time with them. There is nothing wrong with this, the chances are you love the people you’re with but it is a big shift in routine and something that we should all give consideration to.
The New Normal
I think coming out of lockdown will give us all a different appreciation for love, time and those around us. It is such a small thing, but I miss going to Wetherspoons on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with my boyfriend. We didn’t even do it all the time, but it was something that we loved doing & haven’t been able to do for ages. Of course, the fact that my family are 5 hours away
and I haven’t seen them since before Christmas is a big deal too! I hope that this will give us all a new appreciation of the people around us.
So, whether it’s meeting new people, missing loved ones or spending more time with the people we care about – lockdown has changed lots of things! What things has it changed for you & what things are you looking forward to getting back to normal with?

Ways To Pass The Time in Lock-down: Dating Edition

May 14, 2020 by Debz Louise Leave a Comment

I have been in a fully-functioning, grownup relationship for 20 months now – I know, I can’t believe it either! That is a fact that has definitely made lockdown life a little easier for me, so I can understand if this time has led to you considering getting a new partner.

You might think that being on lockdown and most social places being closed will make dating impossible, but there are definitely some alternative ways you can look for a new mate.
Online Dating
As someone who has done online dating, and found a partner that way it is something I would recommend. Online dating during this time certainly means the pressure is off because you couldn’t meet up even if you wanted to. This allows you to make the most of this time and really get to know someone before you take the plunge to meet.

Speed Dating
Websites like DateinaDash are a really fun way to meet someone too! Think speed dating, but from the comfort of your own home. If you have a look at the website you’ll see lots of different events taking place, so there should be something to suit you!
Pub Quizzes & Online Socialising
Local pubs are getting more adventurous and many have set up online quiz events. Why not join in with one and see how you get on? Not only will you have fun and pass the time answering questions, but you may find that someone you chat to on the quiz you spark with and you could start to get to know them better! You could even have a go at arranging your own and ask your friends to invite their friends, they could play matchmaker without even knowing!
What tips do you have for passing the time during lock-down?
